Prague Symphony Orchestra: “From the New World” Unofficial

The prestigious Prague Symphony Orchestra, a source of pride for Prague, the music capital of Europe, will visit Japan under the baton of its principal conductor, Tomáš Netopil. For this concert, the orchestra will welcome the young cellist Yo Kitamura—who has captured the world’s attention—as soloist to perform Dvořák’s masterpiece, the “Cello Concerto.” Kitamura is a rising talent who has won numerous first prizes at prestigious international competitions and placed in the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition—one of the world’s three major competitions—and is now poised for a major breakthrough. The second half of the program will feature Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” a work beloved by many. Performed by an orchestra carrying on the Czech musical tradition, these New Year’s melodies—rich in depth and passion—are sure to resonate deeply with the audience.
