Named after the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus’s philosophy that “everything flows,” this production is a grand stage performance that uses the resonance of taiko drums to depict the ever-changing world and the vitality of human life. Directed by and starring Yasutsugu Yamabe—who, at age 16, became the youngest-ever winner of the International Japanese Taiko Drumming Competition—the production expresses a unique philosophy that transcends the boundaries of traditional performing arts. In Act I, Yasutsugu Yamabe and RUMBLE present a flawless interplay of drumbeats, while in Act II, he joins forces with the elite of the traditional Japanese musical instrument world—including Sho Asano, Seizan Ishigaki, and Takeshi Maeda—to create a one-of-a-kind ensemble that fuses tradition and innovation. Set to the powerful yet at times delicate sounds of the taiko drums, the performance conveys the vibrant energy of life—where the daily ups and downs shape the future. Carrying the same fervor as the Fukuoka performance, we invite you to experience the essence of this ever-evolving performing art firsthand at the venue.
