Yuji Maruo Piano Recital: "Voice of Nature"—Listening to the Voice of Nature

This recital features pianist Yuji Maruo, who advocates “The Maruo Method”—a unique approach to physical movement based on the laws of physics. The program is organized around the theme of “Nature,” featuring pieces that reflect the energy of the natural world, its history, and the emotions of people. In the first half, he will perform excerpts from “DOMISO PROJECT,” composed by Kiōjō Kitakata, as well as pieces inspired by sacred sites from Japanese mythology and the gardens of Tsuwano. This will be followed by famous pieces from Smetana’s “My Homeland”; while this work is typically performed by an orchestra, you will be able to experience the pianist’s true mastery as he brings it to life with a sound that transcends the limits of the piano. The second half will feature a complete performance of Liszt’s “Years of Pilgrimage, Year 1: ‘Switzerland’.” Yuji Maruo’s deeply refined interpretation will convey the spirituality of Liszt, who transformed from a “magician of sound” into a seeker of truth.
