The Ishin Trio is a piano trio formed in 2023 by three students—a violinist, a cellist, and a pianist—studying at the Berlin University of the Arts. The trio’s name, “Ishin,” comes from a sushi restaurant the members frequented together in Berlin. The trust they’ve built not only through music but also by spending time together in their daily lives is very much alive in their ensemble playing.
Since its formation, the trio has received high acclaim in Europe, including a third-place finish at the Alice-Samter International Chamber Music Competition and a finalist spot at the All-German Mendelssohn Music Competition. The members continue their activities while honing their skills as soloists, chamber musicians, and orchestral players.
This concert is a recital in Japan held to commemorate the trio’s graduation from the Berlin University of the Arts.
The program features Haydn’s *Piano Trio in C Major, Hob.XV:27*, which shines with the refined beauty of the Classical period; Ravel’s *Piano Trio in A minor*, with its captivating, colorful sound; and the *Piano Trio No. 1 in B-flat major, Op. 8* by the young Brahms, brimming with passion and deep lyricism. Through these three works—which span different eras and styles—you will be able to enjoy the diverse charms of the piano trio format.
We are truly looking forward to sharing with our Japanese audience the music we have cultivated in Berlin and the unique ensemble sound that can only be created by the three of us.
We sincerely look forward to welcoming you all.
