Tokyo Junior Orchestra Society <30th Anniversary> 26th Annual Concert

We, the NPO Tokyo Junior Orchestra Society, are a youth orchestra based in Tokyo. Fumiki Shinozaki, who served for many years as concertmaster of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, serves as our artistic director, and musicians from major orchestras across Japan serve as instructors. Under their guidance, students ranging from elementary schoolers to college students devote themselves to their practice. We received certification as an NPO from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 2009, and—unlike most junior orchestras in Japan—we operate independently without sponsors such as specific companies or local governments, thereby upholding our philosophy of placing children at the center of our activities. This year, we will hold our “26th Annual Concert” on Saturday, August 22, at the Bunkyo Civic Grand Hall. We are honored to welcome Mr. Tatsuya Shimono, one of Japan’s leading conductors, to lead us in a spectacular program celebrating the orchestra’s 30th anniversary, and we will perform with heartfelt gratitude to all of you. All of our members are practicing diligently. Please come and enjoy the children’s vibrant, youthful performance.
