“quiet space” is a recital series featuring a variety of contemporary piano works in which tranquility and silence are key elements.
In the first installment, “still/be still,” we will perform *Still* and *be still*, composed exactly ten years ago by two American composers—James Romig and Ryan Keebaugh—who are part of the post-Feldman movement. Both are lengthy works lasting 60 to 70 minutes, and while they remain extremely quiet throughout, their musical structures and sonic developments are entirely different. Although the titles, content, and scale are very similar, we hope the differences in the two composers’ approaches will come across clearly.
