[Acousmonium Workshop]

Venue: Sendai City Civic Activities Support Center, Civic Activities Theater
Instructor: Yasuyoshi Ushiyama
Capacity: 10 participants (Advance registration required)
Fee: 2,000 yen
Overview:
This small-group, hands-on workshop uses live demonstrations to teach the basics of the “Acoosmonium,” an acoustic system that creates three-dimensional sound movement using multiple speakers. Following an overview of its historical background, participants will actually adjust the volume themselves to experience the spatial expansion and changes in sound. The Acousmonium setup used on the day of the workshop will be identical to that of the concert the following day, allowing participants to gain a deeper appreciation of the art form over both days.
[Acousmatic Music Concert]
Date and Time: Sunday, September 27, 2026, 1:30 PM– (Doors open at 1:00 PM)
Venue: Sendai City Civic Activity Support Center, Civic Activity Theater
Performers: Yasuyoshi Ushiyama, Masaki Okubo, Karu Sugano, Shin Bogyeong, Nami Doi, Nekomata Kenkyo, Shosei Yutani, Yumi Watanabe
Admission: 2,500 yen (advance); 3,000 yen (at the door)
Overview:
This concert will feature the latest acousmatic music works performed in a three-dimensional sound space created by an acousmonium. Acousmatic music is a genre in which electronic sounds and everyday ambient sounds are recorded, processed, and used as compositional material. During the concert, composers will use the Acousmonium to manipulate the sounds of their own works. The audience will experience a dynamic soundscape as the sounds move around them. In addition to composers based in South Korea, we have invited composers active both domestically and internationally, locally based composers, and emerging composers to introduce a diverse range of musical worlds.
