Yoshiaki Tokunaga: Piano Talk Concert
A Seaweed Fisherman and Pianist Takes on the Challenge! A Magical Entertainment Concert for All Ages
2026/08/09(su.) 13:30 Starting
Shiga Prefectural Citizens' Exchange Center, Piazza Hall (Shiga)
Yoshiaki Tokunaga, a seaweed farmer in Saga Prefecture, is known nationwide as the “Miracle Pianist” and has touched the hearts of people across the country.
At the age of 52, he was deeply moved by a performance by the late world-renowned pianist Fujiko Hemming and, despite having absolutely no prior piano experience, began teaching himself to play.
Through intense daily practice of 8 to 10 hours, he masterfully learned Liszt’s extremely difficult piece, “La Campanella”!
From appearances on TV programs to his life story serving as the inspiration for the film *La Campanella*, his unwavering passion, warm personality, and heart-touching tones are a must-hear.
Additionally, we are pleased to welcome young pianist Mana Ishikawa, a graduate student at Toho Gakuen School of Music, as a special guest!
We are eagerly looking forward to hearing about Ms. Tokunaga’s journey and Ms. Ishikawa’s fresh and powerful piano playing.
We sincerely hope to share this miraculous harmony with as many people as possible.
Please invite your friends and family and join us for this special event. We look forward to seeing you there.
