A Summer Afternoon Woven by Two Divas: Classical and Jazz.

These two divas met as classmates in the Vocal Music Department at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music. Soprano Kaoru Mori and jazz singer Kaori Nakane bring together the artistic expression they have honed in their respective fields to deliver the magic of music that transcends genres.

The “Diva Concert Series” is a project in which friends who spent their university days together share music that can only be delivered now that they have grown older. Rather than competing on youth or technical skill, they cherish the depth and warmth that can only be expressed by singers who have accumulated life experience.

In fact, this series has a single goal. That goal is the “60th Birthday Diva Concert,” to be held approximately three and a half years from now, when the three performers will celebrate their 60th birthdays. Until then, we will continue to grow as artists while holding concerts in Nagoya featuring a “Classical × Jazz” lineup and in Shizuoka featuring a “Classical × Pop & Rock” lineup, sharing the journey of our artistic development with our audience.

The theme for this concert is “A Musical Journey on a Summer Afternoon,” dedicated to Marine Day. We have prepared a diverse program that transcends genre boundaries, featuring the classic Japanese song “Song of the Beach” and the jazz standard “Summertime,” among others. How does the expression of the same melody differ between classical and jazz? Savoring these differences is a unique pleasure of this concert.

The venue is Restaurant Mona Petro in Sakae, Nagoya. It is a special space with just 45 seats where you can enjoy music alongside delicious food. The intimate atmosphere—feeling the breath of the singers’ voices and the closeness to the performers—is a major attraction that cannot be experienced in a large concert hall.

These two divas, who have been singing for over 30 years, have music to share that is especially meaningful right now.

Why not join us this summer for a heartwarming afternoon? We sincerely look forward to welcoming you.
