Nagano Symphony Orchestra 75th Anniversary The 68th Subscription Concert
2026/07/12(su.) 14:00 Starting
〜With gratitude for the 75th anniversary of the foundation
Nagano Symphony Orchestra will hold its 68th Regular Concert on July 12 (Sun.).
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the orchestra. We welcome Mr. Kazuyoshi Tanaka as conductor and Mr. Hitoshi Miyazawa, the orchestra's music director, as cello soloist, and will deliver a wonderful performance to thank everyone who has supported the orchestra and to the audience.
The program will be performed by the following musicians.
Dvorak Symphony No. 7 in D minor
This symphony was composed between 1884 and 1885. The symphony is full of the characteristics of Brahms's "Symphony No. 3 in F major," which he composed in 1883 after hearing its premiere in 1883. On the other hand, the music is made to be introspective and universal, while retaining a Slavic atmosphere with motives derived from the theme of the overture "The Hussites" (Op. 67, B. 132), the rhythms of the Czech folk dance "Friant," and other elements.
Dvorak Cello Concerto in B minor
This concerto was composed between 1894 and 1895, just before his return to the Czech Republic. Known by the nickname "Dvorkon," it is one of the most popular cello concertos. It is a concerto in which not only the cello soloist but also the entire orchestra plays an active role. The orchestra's musical director, Hitoshi Miyazawa, will join us for a wonderful performance.
Schubert Overture in Italian Style D591
Composed in 1817, this overture was written in the Italian style. The "Italianate" is added because Rossini's music was popular in Vienna at the time, and this piece was influenced by it. This is an exciting piece that offers both Schubert and Rossini styles.
