The story began in 2016 when Junko Hara and Osuke Kano—who had supported “Circus,” Japan’s premier vocal group, for over 30 years—“graduated” from the group to mark its 35th anniversary and launched their career as a husband-and-wife duo.
Their album *120-Year-Old Love Song*, featuring carefully recorded jazzy self-covers of Circus’s hit songs as well as original songs the pair had written together over the years, has been a long-running bestseller since its release in September 2016. In particular, the “love song” “YOU ~A 120-Year-Old Love Song~,” written just as the pair turned 60, was not only featured on radio and television stations across the country but was also selected as the theme song for the 2018 film *Omiokuri*, resonating deeply with audiences.
In 2021, when they both turned 65, the theme they chose for *130-Year-Old Love Song* was “How Old Is Your Soul?” This theme carries the message that as long as the heart never stops moving forward, the time of youth will continue forever. In April of that same year, they released “Music Serenade Selection,” a collection of 122 acoustic covers of Western songs performed on the radio show they co-hosted, as well as “REBORN,” a digital release of covers of classic Japanese songs that had been in the works since 2013. Even now, they continue to be actively involved not only in live performances but also in nurturing the next generation through initiatives such as “Voice School.”
And the theme for *140-Year-Old Love Song*, to be celebrated in 2026, is “TIME”—representing the era, the time they have spent, and the future they will embrace alongside the next generation. 2VOICE will continue to deliver the irreplaceable gift of song to your hearts.
■ Higashiyamato Boys’ and Girls’ Choir
