Aichi Chamber Orchestra 101st Regular Concert

Newly minted Polish conductor Barbara Dragan will make her first appearance at the Aichi Chamber Orchestra's subscription concert, showcasing her brilliant leadership skills as a young conductor who has garnered attention for her participation in the recording project for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The program opens with Dukas's symphonic poem "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," a colorful depiction of a thrilling tale of magic run amok. Liebermann's Flute Concerto No. 2 will be performed in its long-awaited Japanese premiere with the virtuoso Stefan Hoskuldsson, to whom the work is dedicated, as the soloist. His brilliant tone as principal of the Berlin Philharmonic will bring out the best in this new concerto. The program concludes with Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Ravel's brilliant orchestral arrangement will create an artistic space in which the paintings will be vividly transformed into sound throughout the concert hall.
