The 446th City Symphony Orchestra "Symphony Afternoon
The Dawn of Czech Music
2026/07/12(su.) 14:00 Starting
Ichikawa City Cultural Hall Main Hall (Chiba)
Official http://ichikyo.org/
The Ichikawa Symphony Orchestra (Ichikyo), based in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, will present a performance.
The first half of the concert will feature works by Smetana. The overture to "The Sold Bride" was written as an overture to an opera. Contrary to the slightly frightening image of the title, the overture is from a popular opera with a happy ending. Next are "The High Castle" and "Moldau" from the symphonic poem "My Homeland. Although the two works were premiered at different times, they are strongly connected, and motifs from "The High Castle" appear in "Moldau" as well. Why don't you try to find them while listening to the performance?
The second half of the concert will feature Dvořák's Symphony No. 5. Dvořák was born about 40 years after Smetana. How about listening to the piece while imagining the rich natural scenery of the Czech Republic?
Mr. Yoma Kaburaki will conduct. He has been involved with the City Symphony Orchestra as a rehearsal conductor, but this will be his first appearance at a concert. Please look forward to the music that Mr. Kaburaki will create.
Please enjoy a colorful afternoon with the rich sounds of the orchestra.
