Kotaru Namikawa: First Piano Recital in Tokyo
Beethoven, Brahms, and Chopin, presented by a pianist based in Germany
2026/07/10(Fr.) 19:00 Starting
This is a solo recital by pianist Tsuzumi Namikawa, who is based in Germany and performs throughout Europe.
Namikawa grew up in Germany from the age of nine and completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Music and Drama in Hanover. She is currently enrolled in the university’s State Artist Qualification Program. To date, she has won first prize at the Marienbad International Chopin Piano Competition (Czech Republic) and the Bechstein International Piano Competition (Germany), among numerous other international competitions where she has achieved top honors and distinctions. She has also received the Louis Spohr Music Prize from the city of Braunschweig, Germany, and performs throughout Europe, including in Germany, France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Finland.
In this concert, he will perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 26, “The Farewell”; Brahms’s Three Intermezzi, Op. 117; and Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 3, Op. 58.
Beethoven’s “Farewell,” which depicts parting and reunion; Brahms’s late “Three Intermezzi,” reflecting deep introspection on life; and Chopin’s “Piano Sonata No. 3,” a work that condenses poetic lyricism and grand scale. Through these masterpieces, each possessing exceptional artistic merit, we invite you to experience the rich world of 19th-century piano music.
The venue is Daikanyama Church Hall, a 5-minute walk from Daikanyama Station. We invite you to enjoy the performance of a young pianist who has honed his skills in Europe in a space enveloped in warm acoustics.
