In this recital, pianist Arashi Kawamoto will present a broad repertoire that transcends time and region. The program includes works by Berio, who expresses the four elements of nature through a variety of pianism, Bach's Partitas, which explore the possibilities of the keyboard instrument, and Liszt's Year of Pilgrimage, in which the extreme expressiveness of the piano shines through. Kawamoto studied at Toho Gakuen School of Music and at the Liszt Academy of Music in Hungary, and has won numerous prizes at competitions in Japan and abroad. While Hungarian music is his life's work, his ambitious program is appealing, with a focus on everything from baroque to contemporary music. The intimate setting of the Suntory Hall Blue Rose will provide a rare opportunity to fully appreciate the infinite charm of the piano as an instrument.
