The New National Theatre, Tokyo has been presenting "Ballet Theatre for Children" since 2009 as an opportunity for children, the leaders of the next generation, to experience the fine arts. 15 years ago, the New National Theatre, Tokyo presented an original ballet based on Andersen's fairy tale "The Little Mermaid". The story is about a mermaid who yearns for the world of humans and becomes one through the magic of a queen who rules the deep sea, and the joys and sorrows of love she experiences when she meets a prince. Choreographed by Tetsuo Kaikawa, a longtime member of the ballet company, this is a love story with depth that touches on the absurdities of this world.
