Performer Profile

Tomofumi Shimane (viola da gamba)

D. (Music, Cello) from Tokyo University of the Arts. He studied cello and viola da gamba at the Conservatoire Pari Satie. He is a member of the Bach Collegium Japan, the Bach Society of Japan, the Kishin Trio, and many other performing groups. He is also the leader of the Gamba Consort group "Underhandlet".
His two solo CDs have been recommended by various media magazines. He is the author of "Dupaul Cello Technique and 21 Exercises" (Ongaku no Tomo Sha), which he translated, commented on, and revised. Lecturer at Showa University of Music. He is also a representative lecturer of the Japan Shimochika Association. In recent years, he has served as a jury for numerous international competitions.

Banri Yamagata (Harpsichord)
