Chamber Music for Beginners

Ginza's Oji Hall is renowned for its beautiful acoustics.
The "Ring of Chamber Music Music Festival 2026" will be held throughout the day in this luxurious space, offering a taste of the charms of chamber music.

This performance consists of a daytime performance and an evening performance.
The daytime performance will feature a varied flow of pieces ranging from familiar masterpieces for first-time chamber music listeners to full-fledged works. Each piece is of a length that is easy to listen to and will not bore you, making it an easy stop while shopping or going out in Ginza.

Part 1
The curtain will open with a string quartet led by the talented violinist Chiharu Taki, who is currently the focus of much attention.
The powerful "Star Wars" theme, Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik," which everyone has heard before, and Barber's "Adagio for Strings," which will move your heart.
While using these masterpieces as a starting point, the program is not intended as an "introductory" program, but rather as a showcase of the authentic sound and depth of expression of the string quartet.

Part 2
Chiharu Taki, who has studied in Europe for a long time, will introduce the charm of Schumann's "Piano Quintet," loved all over the world, while guiding students in their performances. The performers are five players who have loved and continued to study music despite their day jobs, and who have been diligently preparing for this occasion for about five months in the SOUP chamber music program. You will be able to hear not only the works but also the process of how the music is shaped and deepened.

Part 3
Joe Hisaishi "The Pigeon and the Boy" will be performed solo by popular trumpet player Aimi Nakajima from the 3rd floor balcony of Oji Hall. The impressive melody from the movie "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" will pour down from above the hall, enveloping the audience in a rich resonance. This is a special acoustic experience that allows the audience to feel the resonance of a hall dedicated to chamber music with their whole body.

The concert will also feature the Piano Quintet by Elgar, a leading British composer, and the Sextet by Martineau, a piece with a light and unconventional appeal. Through these works with completely different personalities, the audience will be able to enjoy the variety and depth of chamber music.
