The 175th Subscription Concert of the Bach Collegium Japan under the baton of Masaaki Suzuki is the first performance of the new "Seven Words on the Cross" project. Centering on Schütz's "Seven Words on the Cross," the concert will feature Bach's Cantatas No. 4 and No. 79, as well as gems from the North German organ school by Bruns. This program vividly traces the deep piety of pre-Bach Lutheran music and the rich origins of religious music.
