Hagen Quartet
Closing act, a quartet that echoes forever
2026/07/04(sa.) 14:00 Starting
The Last Act, the Eternally Resonant Quartet
The last concert of the great string quartet.
The Hagen Quartet has embodied the "ideal of the modern string quartet" for more than 40 years in the 20th and 21st centuries. The quartet's firm artistic vision, rooted in Salzburg, has been embodied in its own unique musical philosophy through exchanges with Arnoncourt and György Kurtág, and has given overwhelming performances of works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and contemporary composers. Their history, deeply etched in the history of chamber music, will finally come to an end in 2026, as the orchestra performs with such masters as Pollini, Mitsuko Uchida, and Zimmermann, as well as with ambitious artists such as Wittmann. On this, their last appearance at Philia Hall, the program chosen after much deliberation is Mozart, Schumann, and Schubert's "Rosamunde".
The light at the end of a long, long journey -- this night will be an everlasting memory.
