Osaka Pastoral Symphony Orchestra
Summer Concert 2026
2026/06/14(su.) 14:00 Starting
Kadoma Civic Cultural Hall Lumiere Hall Main Hall (Osaka)

We, Osaka Pastoral Symphony Orchesta (O-PaS for short), aim to perform the entire (!) Symphony of Vaughan Williams (Ralph Vaughan Williams...RVW for short) in the fall of 2016. The aim of Opus is to promote the excellence of British music from Osaka, including RVW, which is rarely featured in music festivals.
In the past 10 years, we have performed 6 out of 9 RVW symphonies, and have presented a richly varied and conceptual program with soloists and fanfare bands. Her dignified and transparent sound will add new color to the oboe repertoire that represents the 20th century.
The program also includes "Symphony No. 6," a work by Sibelius, who was a great influence on RVW, "Falling Leaves" for orchestra by Finzi, who celebrates the 70th anniversary of his death this year, and "Fantasia" for four viols by Henry Purcell, who was active in the 17th century. Fantasia" written for four viols by Henry Purcell, who was active in the 17th century. In addition, as the first pre-concert in O-PaS history, RVW will perform "Introduction and Allegro" by Ravel, whom RVW studied under in his youth, with O-PaS's well-known harpist Tokuko Matsuo.
Since we will not feature the RVW symphony this time, we would like to make this concert a journey to explore its roots...a concert that will allow everyone to appreciate the wonderful music of RVW and its surroundings again from a different angle and through a different filter.
As the weather gets hot and humid, please look forward to a program of low-temperature music....
