New Symphony Orchestra 274th Concert <70th Anniversary

The Individuality of Two National Composers in Pursuit of Takuo Yuasa

Sibelius has long been a distant cousin to the New Symphony Orchestra, with only two conductors, Yasuo Watanabe and Yasushi Akutagawa, having performed his seven symphonies, but Takuo Yuasa has brought a new style to the orchestra, performing No. 2 in 2019 and No. 1 in the following year. In this third installment, we present No. 5, a masterpiece that stands alongside them, but is being performed for the first time in its 70-year history.

The first half of the program features two pieces of theme music with a strong nationalistic flavor.
