The University of Tokyo Music Department Orchestra Summer Concert 2026

The University of Tokyo Music Department Orchestra will perform in Tokyo with its permanent conductor, Toshifumi Tashiro. Under the baton of Toshifumi Tashiro, who is also a visiting professor of conducting at the Tokyo College of Music, the orchestra will present a performance with a depth that one would not expect from a student orchestra. The program features Tchaikovsky's masterpiece "Symphony No. 6 in B minor 'Pathetique,'" Nicolai's lively overture to "The Merry Wives of Windsor," and Beethoven's monumental "Symphony No. 1 in C major. The University of Tokyo Music Department Orchestra, which has been involved in a wide variety of musical activities since its establishment in 1920, including numerous Japanese premieres and student premieres, will be performing with great enthusiasm.
