Quartet Bamboo is a saxophone quartet formed in 2023 by alumni of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. The name of the group, "Bamboo," expresses the group's wish to be flexible yet grounded, to be sincere in their music, and to bring strength and healing to their audience. The members of the group are Shi-Seok Choi (soprano), Yuta Hikosaka (alto), Atsushi Miyakoshi (tenor), and Naoya Yamamoto (baritone), all saxophonists who have extensive performance experience in Japan and abroad, and are pursuing new possibilities for the saxophone quartet. In this debut recital, they will present a diverse program including a saxophone quartet by J.M. Dammers, Argentine Dances, Op.2 by A. Hinastera, and a new commissioned work by Yuki Nakahashi. Expect one-of-a-kind harmonies and expressive performances woven by their sincere musicality and passion. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy the charm of a saxophone ensemble to the fullest.
