NHK Symphony Orchestra Lio Kwokman, conductor Mami Hagiwara, piano

The annual NHK Symphony Orchestra performance at Saitama Kaikan. This year, the NHK Symphony Orchestra will present a colorful program of masterpieces from the classical repertoire, with the conductor Rio Kwokman, an outstanding Asian conductor who gave a masterful performance in 2017, and the soloist Mami Hagiwara, who has been active internationally since winning the Geneva International Competition (piano section) for the first time as a Japanese pianist.
The first half of the program will be Beethoven's No. 4, one of the most poetic and popular piano concertos of all time. The opening of the piece, which begins with a weak piano solo and an intimate dialogue with the orchestra, shows Beethoven's creativity as well as his sensitive side. Expectations are also high for Hagiwara's piano, which has a wide variety of nuances.
The second half will feature Rimsky=Korsakov's orchestral genius in his masterpiece "Scheherazade. Based on the theme of "One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights)," the luscious solo violin and orchestra dramatically depict each scene in this masterpiece that is the ultimate in orchestral color and beauty.
