Eloquent wind instrument, the oboe that enchanted Handel
~Towards the Music of the 100 Royal Fireworks

Mr. Masamitsu Sannomiya, principal oboe player of the Bach Collegium Japan, will tour western Japan as Les Vents Romantiques Tokyo with Ms. Ayaka Mori, another oboe player, and Ms. Takako Tanaka, viola da gamba.

The following is an announcement from Mr. Sannomiya.

The trio will perform some of Handel's most famous arias from his operas in the style used in 18th century salons, featuring oboe players who were involved with Handel. Although the trio will be keyboard-less, the lineup is intended to be as spectacular as the oboe concerts held at the Count's residence."

This tour is planned for the "Music of Fireworks at the Royal Palace by 100 Old Instrumentalists" to be held on February 4, 2027 at Opera City by Les Vins Romantiques Tokyo. I am really looking forward to that too!

I was strongly impressed when Mr. Sannomiya and Flauto Traverso's Shinya Nozaki and Takako Tanaka came to Fukuoka a year ago, and I was surprised at the overwhelmingly deep world view they expressed despite the compact composition of a viola da gamba bass and two wind instruments, without a harpsichord! Please come and enjoy the 18th century salon style sound of three masters of ancient instruments at the Lutheran Church!
