Mercury Symphony Orchestra

The 71st Regular Concert

2026/04/29(We.) 13:30 Starting

Showa Women's University Hitomi Memorial AuditoriumTokyo

Official https://suikyo.jp/

In our 40 years of history, the Mercury Symphony Orchestra has dared to take the "high road".
Now, we are going to challenge "masterpieces," the core of classical music, head-on.

The fresh brilliance of Mendelssohn's "A Summer Night's Dream" Overture,
the deep and rich song of Dvořák's "Cello Concerto," and the lush brilliance of Schubert's "The Great,
the magnificent musical world of Schubert's "The Great".

The soloist will be internationally acclaimed cellist Yutaka Ito (Principal Cello of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra), one of Japan's leading cellists, who will take on the challenge of performing Dvořák's masterpiece.

Kazuyoshi Tanaka will conduct. He has a close relationship with the Hitotsubashi University Orchestra and has been supporting its music making for many years as an overlapping presence with the history of the Mercury Symphony Orchestra. With his solid musicality and rich experience, he will bring new life to this program.

The works are all widely loved, but the orchestra has not had many opportunities to perform them.
We are proud to present these works as a new step beyond our 40-year milestone.

The reason why "masterpieces" are masterpieces.
Please come and experience the true value of these "masterpieces" at the venue.
