The New Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will present a serious concert for railroad fans, a.k.a. "Tetsu-otaku" (iron geeks). Conducted by the talented young conductor Muneyoshi Matsumoto, the orchestra will present a number of masterpieces that express the dynamism and power of steam locomotives, including Honegger's "Pacific 231" and Villa-Lobos' "Caipira's Little Train". The lineup also includes railroad music familiar to us in our daily lives, such as "My Favorite Things," familiar from JR Tokai's commercials, and Mozart's well-known departure music for Tobu Railway's Ikebukuro Station. Produced and hosted by Seiji Honda, with piano performance, the program will unravel the unexpected connection between railroads and classical music. After the performance, a photo opportunity will be available for the audience to take pictures during the curtain call.
