Dai Miyata, internationally acclaimed as one of Japan's leading cellists, presents this gem of a recital with his close friend, pianist Julien Gernet. In the first half, Dai Miyata spins his cello's characteristic warmth and profound songfulness through Saint-Saens' masterpiece "The Swan" and sonatas, which represent modern French music, as well as the delicate melodies of Fauré. In the second half of the concert, the charm of American music is dynamically expressed through the vibrant melodies of Gershwin and the fantastical worldview of John Williams. We hope you will enjoy to your heart's content the exquisite ensemble of these two virtuosos in the beautiful natural setting of the Yatsugatake Music Hall.
