We are pleased to present the sixth installment of the "Sound Around" series, which traverses from electronic sound to traditional crafts, centered on Kyoto-based artist Masahiko Takeda. Redefining the act of "weaving" from the background of his family's Nishijin textile business, Takeda constructs a unique stage performance in which sound, voice, incense, body, and spatial arrangement interact with each other. Together with diverse collaborators such as Kanna Ashida (percussion) and Toshiko Ihara (sho), a serene and experimental expression quietly weaves its way through the North Hall, taking cues from the time structure of gagaku (ancient Japanese court music) and John Cage's non-centered view of composition. Please enjoy the forefront of contemporary music that shakes the senses.
