Dai Miyata, one of Japan's leading cellists, will deliver an extravagant stage fusion of music and traditional performing arts with special guest Kanjuro Kiritake, a living national treasure bunraku puppeteer. In the first part of the recital, accompanied by Julien Gernet on piano, the audience will enjoy the deep and beautiful sounds of the cello, including Saint-Saens' masterpiece "The Swan," Fauré's song cycle, and music by Joe Hisaishi. In the second part, you will see a one-of-a-kind collaboration between the cello, a Western instrument, and Bunraku puppets, a traditional Japanese performing art, in "BUNRAKU" by Toshiro Mayuzumi and other pieces. An after-talk by the performers is scheduled after the performance, making this a special opportunity to experience the fascination of the art form from multiple perspectives.
