This is the second performance of a grand project in which internationally acclaimed pianist Irina Medjieva will complete all 32 piano sonatas over a two-year period in preparation for 2027, the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's death. This series of concerts of the complete works, the second at Nagoya's Munetsugu Hall, will cover the masterpieces from her early years to the masterpieces that epitomize the middle period of her career. The program includes important works that trace Beethoven's musical evolution, such as the dramatic and emotionally-charged "Pathetique" No. 8 and the powerful and brilliantly crafted "Waldstein" No. 21.
