Musee d'Art Brass Band "The 27th Regular Concert
2026/05/09(sa.) 16:30 Starting
In the first part, we will perform works by three composers with whom we have had close ties in the past, from among those selected for the "Symphonic Band Concert for the 21st Century".
Dragon's Realm" is a reprise of the work adopted in 2026 and performed by the orchestra this year.
For "Midorikaze no Hikari," the orchestra will perform a work by Jun Chosei, the orchestra's music advisor, which was selected for the first time for the Kyo Banquet.
For "Echoing Time Canyon - Choral Overture for Wind Band," which requires a large banda, we have invited the brass band of Akimei High School in Saitama Prefecture to provide a special aural experience that only a live performance can provide.
In the second part, the brass band version of "Symphony No. 12 "1917"" from the works of Shostakovich, who celebrated the 120th anniversary of his birth this year, will be performed for the first time by Mr. Onodera, a renowned arranger.
Among Shostakovich's symphonies, No. 12 is relatively rarely performed. We look forward to a new discovery of how it will sound with a brass band.
In the main program, we will perform Rimsky=Korsakov's masterpiece "Scheherazade" from the same Russian work as Shostakovich's, arranged by Makoto Wada, which has not been published as of 2026, and please enjoy his skillful arrangement that respects the orchestration.
