Yokohama Bay Philharmonic

The 12th subscription concert will feature Bruckner's "Te Deum," which is regarded as the pinnacle of late Romantic religious music. The work is a valuable piece that is rarely performed by amateurs, and even professionals have limited opportunities to perform it because of its large scale and the difficulty of preparation due to the need for a choir and an organ. The Bay Philharmonic holds a Ninth Concert every December, but this will be their first attempt to perform a piece with chorus other than the Ninth.

The orchestra alone will perform Brahms' "Symphony No. 4" and Dvořák's overture "The Carnival". Both programs feature works by masters who lived in the same era and left their mark on history, even though they were sometimes at odds with each other due to differences in their musical views.
