Bamboo Beyond Borders/Shakuhachi Suzutaka Kuroda, Sogetsu-sha
~Shakuhachi, now blowing across the world with composers from all over the world - World premiere/Japan premiere program of all pieces
2026/03/08(su.) 18:30 Starting
Official https://tiget.net/events/450022
This is a solo performance by shakuhachi player Suzuton Kuroda, who is active on the world stage, winning first prize at the International Shakuhachi Competition and serving as a cultural exchange officer for the Agency for Cultural Affairs. This will be the first Japan tour by the German-based contemporary music and Japanese instrument group "Doppelmond/Sougetsu-sha. This is an extremely rare and ambitious program, with all of the pieces being world premieres or Japan premieres. Suzuson Kuroda's outstanding technique and expressive power will vividly depict the new horizon of the shakuhachi as depicted by composers not only from Japan but also from Brazil, Germany, the U.S., orchestras, and other countries around the world. The sound of the shakuhachi, transcending national borders, now blows freshly across the air.
Please come and experience the new world of shakuhachi solo music emerging from here and now, and the birth of future classical shakuhachi music at the Tokyo Concerts Lab, a venue where you can feel the players' breathing close to you.
