Toshi Yamazawa Cello Recital J.S.Bach x Yu Kuwahara
2026/3/7(Sat) 14:00 Japan Evangelical Lutheran Koishikawa Church
This unaccompanied recital combines Bach's unaccompanied cello suites with Yu Kuwabara's three works.
Yu Kuwabara is a composer who is currently attracting a great deal of attention for her compositions for the recently held Takamatsu International Piano Competition. This time, she will perform three works for unaccompanied cello with different personalities.
The "Songs of the Time" is written in a very special tuning (from the top, D#, D, C#, and C). I have wanted to perform this piece for a long time.
Gauche the Cellist" is a suite of five pieces: "Overture," "Practice of Doremifa," "The Delightful Coachman," "The Indian Tiger Hunt," and "Somehow Rhapsody.
Sonata Vocalise" was premiered by Awaza, to which Mr. Kuwahara belongs, in a series combining Bach and Kuwahara's works. It was inspired by Shakespeare's sonnets.
