This performance, a joint project of the Muroguazu Cultural Center and Nippon Steel Corporation's Kioi Hall, is a rare and extravagant stage in which Western baroque music and the traditional Japanese performing art of nagauta resonate with each other. The elegant melodies spun by such virtuosos as Fuminori Shinozaki on violin and Mayako Sone on harpsichord, and the powerful yet delicate nagauta and shamisen music by Jun Toonjimi and others, will blend into one, transcending the boundaries of time and culture. From the delicate masterpieces by the masters of the Baroque period, to the stylish nagauta that describes an early summer river cruise, to the final piece that evokes the excitement of a festival, enjoy to your heart's content the musical crossroads where instruments from Japan and the West breathe new life into the music.
