Felix Mendelssohn was one of the most famous geniuses of 19th century German Romanticism. His music is full of flowing melodies, precise composition, and deep spirituality.

This concert of the Minato Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Hiroyuki Fujimoto for the first time. We look forward to seeing what kind of new chemical reactions his well-honed baton will bring about with this orchestra.

The solo violinist will be Mayu Shirai, who will be performing with the group for the fifth time. The ensemble will perform the Violin Concerto, a masterpiece among masterpieces, with a dense ensemble that can only be achieved through the solid relationship of trust that has been cultivated through their past collaborations.

A major highlight of this performance will be the presence of the "Serpan," an ancient instrument that Mendelssohn specified in his score to achieve his ideal sound. With the participation of master musician Shinya Hashimoto, this instrument will play an important role in both the Overture "Silent Sea and Pleasant Voyage" and Symphony No. 5 "Reformation," as it is indispensable to reproduce the sound of the time.
