PROFILE
Naoki Kita NAOKI KITA
After graduating from Kunitachi College of Music, Kita went to England to study composition and arranging. He then went to Argentina to study under tango violinist Fernando Suarez Paz. In 2011, he started his main project, the Naoki Kita Quartet. He creates his own unique world by fusing his origins in tango with various other types of music. In his duo with Kyoko Kuroda (pf), he performs movie music and Showa-era songs with unique arrangements that emphasize improvisation. He has also participated in many of Tetsu Saitoh's (cb) improvisation-oriented projects. He has collaborated with recitations, with butoh dancers and traditional Asian music players, and has performed in Europe on many occasions.
TETSU NAGASAWA
Percussionist, improviser, composer. Born in Fukushima Prefecture.
Started playing piano at age 5 and drums at age 15.
Studied classical percussion while playing in rock and jazz bands.
He has since developed a number of leader units centering on improvisation. At the same time, he also composes music.
He has a unique melodic and harmonic style of playing, and a unique sense of space that makes the most of "pa" (pause).
