This year's program is designed to give the audience a taste of the diverse expressions and spirituality of Russian music in a single performance. We would like to distance ourselves from the contemporary situation and look back at the spirit and aesthetic sense of "old Russia" nurtured in the era of imperial Russia through its music.

The program will open with Glazunov's "Festive Overture. This work, with its exquisite combination of gorgeous, festive sounds and extended, simple melody lines, is a piece that is unique to late 19th century Russian music.

Ryadov's "Eight Russian Folk Songs for Orchestra" will be performed next, and the simplicity of the folk song material and sophisticated orchestral writing will weave together to create a musical world full of color, as if one were looking at a tapestry.

The second half of the program will feature Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. This symphony, whose motive the composer himself described as symbolic of "destiny," is known as one of Tchaikovsky's most dramatically tense symphonies. The intense theme that blasts from the beginning of the symphony appears in different forms throughout the entire work, and is deeply connected to the fluctuations and conflicts of emotions.
On the other hand, the melancholy melody of the second movement, the light and fantastic music of the third movement, and the intense exuberance of the fourth movement fully demonstrate Tchaikovsky's unique lyricism and skillful orchestral writing. The symphony, built on a flow of inner anguish that moves back and forth between dream and reality and ultimately becomes outward energy, is not merely tragic, but depicts the complexity and plasticity of human emotions.

The conductor is Mr. Tsuyoshi Tabei. He has conducted a program of mainly Russian music at the 51st concert, and we are aiming for a performance that approaches the essence of the vigorous music while continuing to carefully delve into the background and structure of Russian works.

The program will continue to delve carefully into the background and structure of Russian works, with the aim of performing works that approach the essence of the music with vigor. Please come and experience the world depicted by the three different types of Russian music at the concert venue. We look forward to seeing you at the concert.
