Symphonic Poem Himeji" was created in 1989 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Himeji's municipal organization, and is still sung with great care in the local community. This time, a brass band with deep ties to Himeji and a prize-winning group from the chorus contest will perform this hometown hymn, bringing its full charm to the audience. The podium will be led by Shinichiro Ikebe, the composer of this work and one of Japan's leading composers. Mr. Ikebe himself will give a light-hearted talk, while performing many of the profound theme songs of past Taiga dramas such as "Dokuganryu Masamune" and "Kogane no Hihi" that he has worked on. We hope you will enjoy this special program, with melodies that evoke the history and pride of Himeji echoing through the hall.
