This is the first performance in a series that offers a deep taste of Italian "new music" circa 1600, the origin of opera. Featuring vocalist Kosuke Tsuji and Asako Ueda, a lute player based in the Netherlands who has been active internationally, we will present the world of solo madrigale, in which the emotion of the words is portrayed through music. Focusing on works by Pelli, who produced masterpieces of early opera, and Raj, who played the leading role in the premiere of Monteverdi's "Orfeo," the program will recreate the intimate musical space loved in the courts and noble houses of the time with the unique sound of the chitarrone (large lute). A commentary talk and a meet-and-greet with the players after the performance are also planned, making this a special program that allows the audience to enjoy the essence of ancient music from multiple perspectives.
Program
Other musical items to be performed are to be announced on the day of the concert. Talks will be given in between performances, and after the show, there will be an opportunity to meet and chat with the musicians (finger food and drinks included).
