The 713th Subscription Concert of the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra will feature a colorful program under the baton of its permanent conductor, Nodoka Okizawa. The first half of the concert will feature "Festival of the Blowing Summer Breeze" by Hikaru Hayashi, commissioned by Kyoto City, and Takashi Yoshimatsu's bassoon concerto "Narwhal Circuit" featuring the world-renowned Sophie Delvaux as soloist. The second half of the concert will feature two orchestral versions of Ravel's "Kagami" plus Debussy's masterpiece "Umi" (The Sea) to close the program. We hope you will fully enjoy the masterpieces that remind you of early summer in Kyoto and the well-honed sound that only a professional orchestra can provide. A pre-concert talk by the conductor and others is scheduled before the performance to deepen your understanding of the works.
