-Do you guys know the symphony of the brass band?

A brass band is a club activity, something for amateurs. Orchestral music is a prestigious thing played by professionals. It seems that this perception is populated by a difference in known repertoire.

-There are symphonies in brass bands that are as musically and spiritually excellent as orchestral music.

Proggeto Sinfonia's goal is to gradually eliminate the stereotype of wind band music as lowbrow music from the public's mind by introducing such excellent wind band works.


The "Symphony No. 4" (D. Maslanka), which will be performed this time, is a piece that sums up the uncontrollable urge to "shout for the joy of life" and contains many musical references such as the theme from "Old Hundred" and the Bach Chorale.

The first half of the concert will feature three pieces that break down the elements of "Symphony No. 4".

Variations on a Theme by Louis Bourgeois, a variation on the hymn "Old Hundred"
Bach's Cantata No. 156, "My One Foot is in the Grave"
and "The Wall," which depicts the tragedy of war and the hope for peace implied therein.
