Caterina Ensemble for Ancient Music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance

A rare Fukuoka performance by the Caterina Old Music Ensemble, which performs music from the Medieval and Renaissance periods in its own style and is said to have a hundred tones.

The Caterina Ancient Music Ensemble uses restored instruments from the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Modern instruments in Western music have their origins in the East, and the instruments of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, with their remnants of Eastern sounds, give off a taste and warm sound like cereal rice, not like finely selected white rice. The music of the Caterina Old Music Ensemble is connected to classical music, folk music, and even contemporary jazz and pop music.

Founded in 1973 by Masataka Matsumoto. In 1979, he released an LP record, "The Study of Ancient Music"; in 1986 and 1988, he appeared as a musician in Tamasaburo Bando's production of "Romeo and Juliet"; in 1995, he composed music for the radio drama "Hayao Miyazaki's Miscellaneous Notes"; in 1996, his CD "Dukuchia" was selected for the film "My Village in the Picture"; in 1999, he was selected as a soloist for the film "The Village in the Picture"; in 2002, he was selected as a soloist for the film "The Village in the Picture".
