In this recital, Tomofumi Shimane will recreate the "under-bow" cello technique common in the 17th and 18th centuries with a mini-lecture, performing J.S. Bach's Suite No. 3 BWV 1009 for unaccompanied cello and sonatas with basso continuo by Vivaldi and Klein. Tomofumi Shimane will use his cello and the fantastic small viola da gamba "Canton" to freely resonate from solos in the ultra-high register to massive baroque ensembles.
