Yutaka Sado welcomes the New Year's subscription concert as Artistic Director. Pianist Hiromi Uehara, who straddles the border between jazz and classical music, makes her first appearance at PAC, portraying Gershwin's Piano Concerto in an energetic and improvisational performance. The second half of the concerto features Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra, a dynamic and vivid sound in which each instrumental group acts as a soloist.
