We are pleased to announce that Denis Bernier Martin, an internationally acclaimed violinist based in Sweden, will be visiting Japan on short notice to give a special duo recital with Asuka Jizukawa.
The two first performed together in 2018 at a concert at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Austria, where Jitsukawa was a student, and have since performed together in many places.
This will be a rare opportunity to present a musical dialogue between these two musicians, nurtured over a long period of time, in Japan.
The title of this concert is "Dear Vienna: A Portrait of Vienna through the Sonatas of the Three Masters - A Dialogue between Piano and Violin," a unique composition that depicts Vienna as a blossoming center of European music, centered on the sonatas of three composers.
The program opens with Alexander Glazunov's "Grand Adagio" from his ballet "Raimonda" Op.57.
The rich romanticism and graceful dance-like expressions vividly show the intimate interplay of their tones.
The program continues with "Four Preludes" Op.34 by Shostakovich and Zyganov, which reflects the Russian poetic sentiment of a mixture of humor and melancholy.
Gabriel Fauré's "Lullaby," Op.16, adds delicate and soft colors, gracefully completing the first half of the program.
The second half of the concert features sonatas by two of Vienna's great masters.
Mozart's "Violin Sonata in A major, KV 526" stands out for its lightness and purity of song, and the piano and violin resonate as perfect equals.
Beethoven's "Violin Sonata No. 6 in A major, Op. 30-1," the next piece on the program, is a work that breathes the brightness of youth and quiet inner passion, and the mature dialogue between the two will leave a deep impression.
In the final movement, Beethoven's "Violin Sonata No. 2 in A major, Op. 100" echoes like a celebration of the joys of mature chamber music.
The venue, YN Salon Hall (Chiba Prefecture), is an intimate space where the charm of chamber music can be felt at the closest distance.
It is our sincere pleasure to present to you, music lovers, a special moment that crystallizes the time and trust we have built up over the years.
