The concert of Bach's Unaccompanied Cello Suites No. 1, 3, and 5 heated up Okayama at the end of the year before last. As many of you may remember, the second, fourth, and sixth concert of Bach's Suites for Solo Cello will finally be held.
Mr. Hitoshi Nakamura, a young baroque cello virtuoso, will tour Fukuyama and Okayama with his 5-string cello. Please don't miss it!

(A concert with the same program is also scheduled for Saturday, November 1 in Fukuyama (concert starts at 11:00 a.m.).


Profile
NAKAMURA Hitoshi (4-string & 5-string baroque cello)

Graduated from the University of Michigan, Department of Instrumental Music, first in his class, completed the Master's Program in Old Music Performance at the Juilliard School (as a special student), and the Master's Program in Old Music for Performers at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He participated in the 2015 Chateauqua Music Festival (USA), 2016 and 2017 Aspen Music Festival (USA), 2018 15th Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Music Festival (Korea), 2022 Zoma Academy Zutphen (Netherlands) Winner of the Concerto Competition Bass Instruments category at the Aspen Music Festival in 2017, Winner of the 1st Prize in the Strings Division of the 1st Japan International Music Competition, 3rd Prize in the Melodic Instruments Division of the 34th International Old Music Competition in Yamanashi (no 1st Prize), and 2nd Prize in the Early Music Division of the 24th Osaka International Music Competition (highest prize). While attending the Juilliard School of Music, he participated in concert tours in Canada, Scandinavia, France, and New Zealand as a member of the Juilliard 415 Orchestra of Old Music. As a student at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, he also participated in Side by Side, a joint concert with the 18th Century Orchestra. He has studied cello with Richard Aaron and Horacio Contreras, and baroque cello with Kristin von der Goltz, Lucia Swarts, Phoebe Carrai, and Enid Sutherland. She has also attended master classes with Clive Brown, Viola de Hoog, Elinor Frey, William Christie, Paul Agnew, and others. Currently based in the Kansai area.
