From the Heart to the Heart: The Language of Music through Ornamentation
Music is not a collection of sounds, but a "language" that connects the heart to the mind. Baroque composers used melodies as sentences, punctuating them like punctuation marks, and speaking of emotions through strength, weakness, and intonation. This is the "language of music" (Musikalische Klangrede).
Ornamentation adds color to the language and makes the emotions even more vivid. Through the works of Kwanz, Telemann, and others, we will unravel the message of music told by ornamented sounds.
Master Class
Students will have the opportunity to listen to a practical lesson on the flauto traverso and Böhm style flute.
